The main goal of the research is to understand to which extent the ways in which people perceive the effects of climate change upon their daily life may urge some more than others to actively start the process of international migration. The project is a mixed method study combining questionnaires and focus groups. In this briefing, we concentrate on the analysis of the focus groups to explain the descriptive results of some of the variables. How do the reconfigurations of gendered dynamics in transnational families (TFs) affect the well-being and subjectivities of mothers and fathers in the hosting and sending communities? Through this literature meta-synthesis, we describe six main areas of concern for parents who migrate without their children: (a) migration and family roles; (b) affects; (c) negotiations of gender, subjectivity, and family expectations; (d) family cohesion, tensions, and arrangements; (e) communication and the digital relational space; and (f) narratives on family reunification. We discuss the ways in which these areas and processes interact with each other within and around TFs. This article contributes to theories on family transnationality and transnational parenting by identifying and discussing specific dynamics of change and possibilities of becoming, which will be helpful to professionals working with TFs and to migrant parents to understand and anticipate likely family challenges. Esta investigación cualitativa recoge y analiza las necesidades, experiencias y afectos de esta población cuidadora, principalmente conformada por mujeres, en el contexto del occidente de Honduras. Con una mirada interdisciplinar de los retos que supone la transnacionalidad para una familia, nuestra investigación tiene el objetivo de comprender las formas en las que el cuidado mantiene los lazos familiares en la distancia física. A través de un análisis temático reflexivo de entrevistas y grupos focales, nuestra investigación identifica y analiza los cambios principales en los roles de género, la responsabilidad social, la comunicación, los afectos y el apoyo institucional que se producen en este nuevo modelo familiar. La función de mediadoras que adoptan las cuidadoras y la poca claridad sobre sus responsabilidades son temas centrales en sus narraciones.
