The basic principles of Territorial Based Rural Development (TBRD) and its impact on the development of territories: the case of TBRD in Spain [Dataset]
Date:
2023Abstract:
The Territorial Based Rural Development (TBRD) approach seeks to overcome the lack of equity in the rural world with respect to urban environments and thus achieve a more equitable and sustainable development. The TBRD approach has been based on a series of principles considered basic: territorial approach, bottom-up approach, public-private partnership, strategic planning, innovation, integrality and multisectorality, networks and cooperation, and financing and proximity management. This article makes a theoretical analysis of the relationship of the basic principles of the territorial rural approach with the results obtained in the territories in which they are applied, as well as the possible dependencies that may exist between them. It seeks to answer some questions, such as: • The role and importance of public policies in the implementation of the TBRD approach • The different nature of principles • The relationships that may exist between the different principles. • The mediation relationships that may exist between the principles. • The critical role that each principle could play. • To what extent the different principles make up an approach. Some hypotheses have been formulated to assess the relationships between the principles of the TBRD approach. Partial Least Squares-Structural Equations Modelling (PLS-SEM), and Necessary Conditions Analysis (NCA) are used. The results support the validity of the territorial based rural development approach as an intervention methodology for the development of rural territories. Data manager: Adolfo Vázquez Sánchez
