In the last twenty years the maritime industry has been suffering changes due to advancements in technology and regulations surrounding environmental sustainability. This combined with the rise of available data with digital transformation has made the industry a point of interest for analysis using different data sources like Automatic Identification System (AIS) data. Parties are now capable of calculating precisely different metrics surrounding the industry like the exact maritime distance travelled, how much fuel the vessel needs for a future trip or predicting the greenhouse gas emissions in order to avoid fines and comply with regulations. This is specially useful for marine planners for scenario capabilities and live monitoring for anomaly detection. However, these models have been made, but not published for public use. That is why, in this project, we will review the existing models and we will present an open-access web app solution for plotting vessel routes, estimating fuel consumption and CO2 gas emissions using AIS data to serve as a base for future development, as well as reviewing past literature surrounding the industries challenges and objectives. We will also point towards the need of public maritime traffic data and how future improvements can be adopted in our model.es
